About Us

The origin of our firm began in 1956 when Leslie Watts opened an office in downtown Bakersfield. We are pleased to say that Leslie was the sole practitioner of an accounting firm that would grow to be one of the most well-respected and diversified firms in Bakersfield.

In 1959 Noel Daniells became a partner and the firm became known as Watts and Daniells, Certified Public Accountants. Shortly thereafter, Tom Phillips joined the firm as a partner.

Our talented team of partners and staff’s pride runs deep in the firm’s history. Today, the people who make up Daniells Phillips Vaughan & Bock hold a high degree of skill, and offer diversity and dedication to our clients and the public accounting profession. They are the true reason for the continued success of the firm, which has consistently demonstrated leadership abilities with several partners having served as Presidents of the Bakersfield Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

We are clients of the RSM Professional Services+ Practice. As a client, we have access to the Professional Services+ Collaborative, a globally connected community that provides access to an ecosystem of capabilities, collaboration and camaraderie to help professional services firms grow and thrive in a rapidly changing business environment. As a participant in the PS+ Collaborative, we have the opportunity to interact and share best practices with other professional services firms across the U.S. and Canada.

Technological advances in the field of accounting have also been constantly utilized by our firm over our five decades in business. Staying on the cutting edge adds to productivity and efficiency in our day-to-day operations so we can better serve clients in Bakersfield and Kern County.

Our firm also seeks to serve Bakersfield in a philanthropic way. Team members have been committed to offering support to many worthy causes for generations. Members of the team serve or have served on various boards of nonprofits in Bakersfield and the entire firm supports organizations in Bakersfield such as the Bethany Homeless Shelter, United Way’s Day of Caring, Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Club of Kern County, Alliance Against Family Violence, and others.

The focus today is the same as it was back in 1956, and though the landscape of accounting has changed since then, our dedication to client service and satisfaction has not.
