Operational & Administrative Manuals:

These manuals differ from Employee Policy Handbooks in that they do not address policies but are designed to clearly define job functions and specifications and establish procedures for job performance.

Such manuals are an excellent basis for orientation and training of new or temporary employees. They also provide an ongoing reference for all employees on “How We Do It Here” and serve as an objective basis for performance measurement and improvement programs.

Getting employees involved in the preparation of operational and administrative manuals is essential to assure accuracy but also to get buy-in for implementation.
